About Us

raising a child with autism spectrum disorder, helping children with autism,Hello, it’s nice to meet you! I’d love to share our journey of raising a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder with you

My name is Claire and these are my two lovely sons, Darcy next to me and Hunter.

Autistic advisor was inspired by our journey with Darcy who has been a great teacher in our lives! 🙂
The emotional journey that we have been on and the learnings we have gained, have made our lives ever so much richer, even though it has been a very difficult and highly emotional journey at times.

We were so relieved to find there was an answer to his unusual behavior, the many daily temper tantrums he would so dramatically throw, the lack of sociability and his lack of interest in much of anything, especially people.

He has always had an affinity with animals and continues his close relationship with our dogs, guinea pigs and especially our wild King parrots who come in on daily basis to visit.I’m not really sure who has who trained when it comes to feeding these colorful and beautiful creatures!! 🙂

These days, Darcy is a settled and happy young man.He is extremely thoughtful and frequently surprises us with his  deeply insightful comments. He has a love of music, Lego like most boys, reading, watching movies and the general day-to-day life of our farm.

I wanted to share our story and I hope you will enjoy reading Darcy’s story.
He is an amazing young man and I am looking forward to seeing who he becomes in the years ahead….

We live on a beautiful small farm in West Gippsland, Australia.
Helping children with AutismAt the time of writing this, we have 10 head of steers, two alpacas, rabbits too numerous to mention, wombats in our forest, our two dogs Mick and Kassa and the two gorgeous long-haired guinea pigs Max and Bella .

We grow a lot of our own vegetables. At the moment we are growing lettuce, basil, beans, tomatoes, we, rocket, zucchinis, kale and celery.

We loved going out to the garden and collecting armfulls of fresh organic and pesticide free healthy produce and cooking it up to enjoy a tasty feast. the boys always say they can tell which vegetables are home grown and which vegetables come from a shop, they have very good taste buds!

This year, will be an exciting one for us all! The boys are both heading off to new schools, Hunter entering his first year at high school and Darcy at his new primary school so we are all excited at the new opportunities this year will bring……

My husband, Don and I are both venturing into different areas of work which we are both very much looking forward to and perhaps will chat about that later as the year goes a long…

Bye for now,
